Moscow, 9 September 2019. SIBUR has joined the United Nations Global Compact – the organisation’s most prominent global business initiative for corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.

Since its inception in 2000, the UN Global Compact has been signed by more than 13,000 parties from nearly 160 countries.

To join their ranks, SIBUR sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, publicly acknowledging its commitment to respecting the human rights and promoting more fair, eco-friendly and inclusive business, local and social development.

The Company will support the principles of the UN Global Compact, integrate the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda into its operations and include an annual communication on progress in its corporate social responsibility reports.

Maxim Remchukov, Sustainable Development Director at SIBUR: “By joining this major initiative we have declared our strong commitment to sustainable development, desire to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, and willingness to perform our new obligations at the highest level. We hope that the global business community will see us and other Russian signatories as an exemplar in terms of best practices.”
